How To Upload Your Music To Kinjari
At Kinjari we work hard to make your life as easy as possible, especially the upload process. We want to make sure you have an easy and enjoyable time getting your music out in to the world.
Please note: this guide is to assist you in the upload process, and does not go fully in detail for requirements for each section. For full in-depth details about how your metadata should be written please read our Style Guide here.
Artists
Artists are the most important part of a release. They are the people who created the music we love, we sing and we dance to. Many artists go by multiple aliases, maybe to keep a separate persona or to have different aliases for different genres. Whatever the reason, Kinjari allows you have as many artists profiles as you wish!
Adding an Artist
The first step is to add your Artist(s) to your profile. All release must be associated with at least one artist. With the Kinjari platform you can add as many artists as you wish!
In order to add your first artist head to the Artists section from the menu on the left:
From there, you can either click the "Let's get started" button (shown only if you have no artists yet) or the "Add Artist" button in the top right.
On the next screen you can either add an artist name manually or search for your artist profile on Spotify. If you already have your music on Spotify, we recommend doing this method as we can send the Spotify artist ID with submissions ensuring your music ends up on the correct profile.
On this screen type to search for your artist profile, click to select the artist and then press Confirm to complete the process.
You will then see your artist listed in the Artists section ready to go!
Releases
A release is commonly referred to as an Album, but we use the term Release as this encompasses Singles, EPs and Albums all under one banner. This is the step where you finally get to put your art out in to the world.
Now that you are ready to add your release, head to the Releases section and either click the "Let's get started" button (shown only if you have no releases yet) or the "Create Release" button in the top right.
This page may seem a tad daunting at first, but don't worry, it is split in to several sections to keep things organised and simple.
The Release Metadata
Down the left we have the Release section. This is the highest level (Single, EP or Album) data. On the right column we have the section for the individual tracks.
You may notice some sections are duplicated. This is because information may differ between sections. For example, if you are the main artist on an album, you may choose to feature an artist only at the track level as they were only featured on one track out of several.
Artwork
Your artwork must:
- Be 3000 x 3000 pixels
- Be square
- Not contain any unrelated text
- Be 100% yours
- Be beautiful
You can upload and see a preview of how your artwork will look. This cannot be replaced once your release is released, so make sure it is perfect!
Release Name
Here is the name for your release. Just a reminder, this is the name for your Single, EP or Album. If you're releasing just one track, it's probably the same name as that. If you have several tracks on one Album, give it a special name (or the name of your favourite track from the album!).

If you have already released this and are transferring from another distributor, you should use the same UPC to ensure everything is tracked and migrated properly. If you issue your own UPCs then you can write that here. Otherwise, you are free to leave it blank and we will provide one for you free of charge!

Audio File
Here you can upload your audio file for delivery to streaming providers and stores. Remember, many stores will transcode to suit their platform so you should provide the highest quality audio possible.
The recommended technical specifications are:
Category | Specification | Details |
---|---|---|
Upload Format | FLAC (Recommended) | Free Lossless Audio Codec |
WAV (Accepted) | Waveform Audio File Format (also Lossless) | |
Sample Rate | 44.1 kHz | Minimum recommended sample rate |
Bit Depth | 16-bit | Standard CD quality (24-bit accepted but converted by many platforms) |
Loudness Normalization | Target Loudness | -14 LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) |
True Peak Maximum | -1 dB TP (True Peak) | |
Headroom | Mixing Headroom | -3 to -6 dB for loudest peaks |
Mastering Ceiling | -1 dBTP (or -1.5 dBTP for safety) |
While we will accept MP3s these will be automatically transcoded in to WAV files for distribution. As this is a lossless conversion, no quality will be lost but it will not improve quality. You really do gain a lot by providing the highest quality file possible.
Stores
The final section of the upload step is to confirm which stores you would like your music to be distributed to. Some of these platforms are also aggregators (such as 7digital), so they will also forward your music on to stores. You can see the full list here.
Let's Go!
Once you are done and everything has been filled in, click the "Let's go!" button at the bottom of the page to send your release to review. From here we will initiate a two-step review process. We do an initial quick review which typically spots most issues. Then, if your release passes this review it goes to a more detailed review.
Release Approved
If everything is good and there are no problems your release should be accepted without issue. We'll deliver to stores the very same day as approval but it can take them a few days to process your release.
Release Rejected
If there are issues we may need to reject your release. Don't worry though - most issues are small and can easily be remedied. The rejection email will contain a note from our review team, if any change are needed you should reply to this email to open a support case with the information requested.
